Permian OSHA Watch

About & methodology

Permian OSHA Watch is a free tracker run by Brian Partain, an HSE regional manager in the Permian Basin, to help safety professionals see which hazards OSHA is citing in our industry.

Source: US DOL OSHA enforcement bulk data (osha_inspection, osha_violation) from data.dol.gov, last fetched 2026-10-15T20:46. Scope: inspections opened since 2021-01-01 at sites in TX/NM with NAICS 211*, 213111, 213112, 486*, 237120, located in Permian counties (TX: Andrews, Borden, Crane, Crockett, Culberson, Dawson, Ector, Gaines, Glasscock, Howard, Irion, Loving, Martin, Midland, Mitchell, Pecos, Reagan, Reeves, Scurry, Sterling, Terrell, Upton, Ward, Winkler, Yoakum + nearby counties; NM: Eddy, Lea, Chaves, Roosevelt), assigned by site ZIP code (fallback: city). Deleted citations are excluded. Penalties shown are current (post-settlement) amounts.

Limits: OSHA only publishes some data once cases progress; recent inspections may show no citations yet. Inspections coded to a non-oil NAICS (e.g., trucking) are not included even when they occurred on a lease.

Disclaimer. Data from the U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA enforcement database (data.dol.gov), filtered to oil & gas NAICS codes (211, 213111, 213112, 486, 237120) and Permian Basin counties by site ZIP/city. Citations and penalties are not final until a case is closed and may be contested, reduced or withdrawn. Company names are shown as recorded by OSHA and grouped by an automated name match; a name may match multiple distinct legal entities, and one company may appear under several names. Inspections in New Mexico occur under federal OSHA jurisdiction for private employers; Texas is a federal-OSHA state. This site is independent and not affiliated with OSHA or DOL. Verify any record at osha.gov before relying on it.
